I have a kmz file and I tried to extract 3d mesh from it. I already tried to change it into zip file and unzip it but there isn't a dae file as expected. Does this mean it's hopeless to get the 3d mesh from it?
Thanks in advace!

now I might be out on a limb here, but I think you should be able to extract (unzip) your kmz to a kml and then read this through sketchup? otherwise, if the mesh is not overly complicated, the kml is just a variant of xml which means it's text you can read in a spreadsheet program or web browser. from there you might be able to directly figure out what's what.

ok that was wrong. try this instead: http://www.blender.org/
omg this is a trickier one than it seemed at first. blender solution works with a custom script which you can find via google, or ask me for it, but only if the mesh is from latest google earth v 3. can you hack that?
